The Spanish parliamentary commission investigating the Madrid train bombings began public hearings today.
191 people died in the terrorist attacks on 11 March and 1,900 were injured.
Concern has been expressed in Spain that the inquiry will not be as exhaustive as the US Congressional investigation into the 11 September attacks in 2001.
Neither the former conservative Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar nor his socialist successor, Jose Luis Zapatero, is being called to testify.
