Corner stone of Freedom Tower laid

The corner stone has been laid of the building that will replace the twin towers of the World Trade Centre destroyed in the September 11 attacks on New York in 2001.

The ceremony comes as the US celebrates its Independence Day amidst heightened security.

The Freedom Tower should be the tallest building in the world at 1,776 feet when it is completed on the site of Ground Zero by 2009.
