The British Attorney General Lord Goldsmith has said that a British soldier will stand trial over the wounding of a 13-year-old boy in a shooting incident in Iraq.
Military prosecutors have decided that Private Alexander Johnston of the King's Own Scottish Borderers should be tried on a charge of unlawful wounding.
It is understood the incident happened last September while Private Johnston was on guard duty. Private Johnston faces an alternative charge of negligent handling of a weapon.
Rocket attacks on Baghdad hotels
In a separate incident, two hotels used by foreigners and Iraqi officials in Baghdad were hit by rockets this morning.
Security guards outside the Baghdad Hotel said that three people had been injured, while nobody was hurt when a rocket struck the tenth floor of the Sheraton Hotel.
Nearby, police found a pickup truck which had turned over on its side with 17 rocket launchers and a crude firing mechanism inside.
Police said they believed three rockets had been fired and the force of launching them had flipped the truck over.
