A boat with two people on board, which got into difficulty in Lough Rea tonight, has been towed safely ashore by a local sub-aqua unit.
The alarm was raised shortly before 9pm, when the 24-foot cabin cruiser lost engine power and began drifting towards rocks.
The pair on board managed to keep it off the rocks using poles, until a coast guard helicopter and a rescue boat arrived at the scene.
The boat was successfully towed to Port Ronan in Co Roscommon.
