Charlie McCreevy has said he hopes to hold his portfolio as Minister for Finance in the Cabinet re-shuffle planned by the Taoiseach for the autumn.

Speaking in Cork, Mr McCreevy said he felt the Government had done a good job over the past seven years.

The minister did not accept that a perception among the electorate that the party had become arrogant, was the reason Fianna Fáil had done badly in the Local and European Elections earlier this month.
