The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades have vowed to avenge in an 'unprecedented fashion' the killing by Israeli troops of their West Bank commander, Nayef Abu Sharekh.
A total of seven Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire during a search operation in West Bank city of Nablus.
All the dead were armed militants, mostly members of the radical
Martyrs' Brigades group.
Two were identified as the local leader of the military wing of Hamas, and the top commander for Islamic Jihad in Jenin.
Nayef Abu Sharekh was appointed only two months ago as the West Bank leader of the Brigades.
Earlier in the day, an Israeli army spokesman and Palestinian
security sources reported another armed Palestinian had been
killed.
