11 Morris Tribunal witnesses pulling out

A total of 11 main witnesses are now pulling out of the Morris Tribunal because they are not getting legal aid.

Frank McBrearty Jnr and ten others have followed Mr McBrearty Snr in refusing to testify before the inquiry into allegations of corruption against some gardaí in Donegal.

Five of those originally arrested after the death of Richard Barron in 1996 met with tribunal lawyers this morning asking for representations to be made to the Government on the issue of legal aid.

They say it is unfair for them to face cross-examination by legal teams for the gardaí involved who are being funded by the State.
