Staff at the Braun plant in Carlow were due to meet today to decide whether to engage in an all out strike.
Until now a majority of the staff have been in dispute with management over the implementation of a new pay deal.
The action up to now has taken the form of an overtime ban and a work to rule.
Management says future investment at Braun is being jeopardised by ongoing industrial unrest.
SIPTU, which represents around 400 of the 600 workers at the facility, is describing the situation as very serious.
