The Chief Executive of Bank of Ireland has announced his resignation.
The surprise announcement came a short time ago when Michael Soden issued a personal statement admitting that he had accessed Internet sites forbidden under bank policy.
Mr Soden said the content of the websites accessed was not illegal but did contain links to material of an adult nature.
The Chief Executive of the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority, Liam O'Reilly, said Michael Soden's resignation as CEO of Bank of Ireland was not a regulatory matter. He told RTÉ News the matter was between Mr Soden and his board.
