A Government minister has criticised a Minister of State from his own party in a worsening of the row in Fianna Fáil over the North & West region European election campaign.
The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív, has criticised the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Jim McDaid, for negative campaigning.
Mr Ó Cuív has also defended the north/south geographical split in the constituency.
Mr Ó Cuív is Director of Elections for Mr McDaid's opponent, outgoing MEP Seán Ó Neachtáin, who is leading in the campaign according to a recent opinion poll.
