A new opinion poll shows that the citizenship referendum is supported by a margin of more than two to one among voters who have made up their minds.
However, the tns/MRBI poll in tomorrow's Irish Times shows that one in five voters have not yet decided on the issue.
The poll shows 54% of voters in favour of the measure; 24% opposed; while 22% say they don't know how they will vote.
This indicates that a clear majority favours the change proposed by the Government. When the undecided are excluded, it indicates a majority of more than two to one.
There are just under three weeks to go before the referendum is held, but most political attention is likely to be focused on the local and European elections to be held on the same day.
Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats are campaigning in favour of the referendum, while Fine Gael is also calling for a Yes vote; Labour, the Greens, Sinn Féin and a number of smaller parties and independents are opposed.
