Forty-four candidates are contesting 13 seats in next month's European Parliament elections. Nominations closed at noon today.
Nationally Fianna Fáil has eight candiates, Fine Gael six, Labour five and Sinn Féin four. The Green Party has three candidates while the Socialist Party has one. Seventeen candidates are classified as non-party.
There are 12 candidates running in the four-seat constituency of Dublin. The East constituency, which is a three-seater, has 13 candidates, including six independents.
In the new constituency of North and West, nine candidates will contest three seats and in the South, a three-seater, there are ten candidates.
