AIB has announced that the former Comptroller and Auditor General, Laurie McDonnell, will head the investigation into overcharging by the bank for foreign exchange services.
Mr McDonnell's appointment, which the bank says is effective immediately, has been approved by the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority.
AIB says the investigation will be completed by mid-June.
