The Tánaiste has told the Dáil the Disability Bill will be published by the Government as soon as possible.

Mary Harney said the bill was on the agenda for cabinet at the moment and was almost finalised.

Earlier, groups representing the disabled said a serious housing crisis is facing people with disabilities who are seeking accommodation.

The Chief Executive of the Disability Federation of Ireland, John Dolan, told a conference in Dublin today that public services have failed to meet the housing needs of people with disabilities.

Delegates attending the conference said that last night's Prime Time Investigates programme on RTÉ television highlighted the continuing problems facing people with disabilities and their families.
