Queen's University to close outreach centre

Unionist and nationalist politicians in the North have expressed concern at reports that Queen's University is to close its outreach centre in Armagh.

The campus was set up to provide educational opportunities particularly for women and those with non-traditional qualifications.

But the University says student numbers have been disappointing.

The project opened in 1995, when President Mary McAleese, then a Professor, was the co-ordinator.
