Roadside sellers of certain perishable fruit and vegetables will no longer need casual trading licences under new regulations introduced by the Tánaiste, Mary Harney, at the weekend.

The regulations remove potatoes and a number of perishable fruits from the scope of the Casual Trading Act 1995.

It means that the growers or their agents can sell perishable fruits between the beginning of May and the end of September without a licence.
