British soldiers who have served in Iraq have questioned the authenticity of images in a national newspaper that seem to show an Iraqi prisoner being beaten and humiliated.
The pictures, which were published in yesterday morning’s Daily Mirror, seem to show a British soldier in the southern Iraqi city of Basra urinating on a detained Iraqi.
However, it is reported that military sources have argued that the images show rifles that the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment does not use.
The sources added that one of the pictures shows a truck model which was never used by British forces in Iraq.
