Four people were killed in the Syrian capital, Damascus, last night in a clash between police and a team of bombers.
The state news agency said police chased attackers wielding grenades after they set off a car bomb in an embassy district of the city.
It said a policeman and a woman passer-by were killed, while two bombers died and two others were injured.
A disused building formerly used by the United Nations was destroyed in the blast.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a cache of arms and explosives belonging to the bombers were found around 25 kilometres south of Damascus.
