The Sinn Féin President, Gerry Adams, told a breakfast meeting of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce today that there should be no tolerance of criminality.
He said that the allegations of criminality against Sinn Féin were a smokescreen to prevent the growth of his party.
Mr Adams told the audience of business people that the peace process has been very severely dented by the Independent Monitoring Commission report.
He said that he was seeking urgent meetings with the Taoiseach and with the British Prime Minister.
The Sinn Féin President said he has been in contact with a senior official in the Taoiseach's office seeking a meeting with Mr Ahern to discuss yesterday's report.
Mr Adams says he has been assured that the Taoiseach will meet with him in the coming days.
