Twenty-one women have been killed in a stampede during a rally in the Indian city of Lucknow.
Local officials said around 15,000 people had gathered in a park to celebrate the birthday of the state leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in northern Uttar Pradesh state.
The officials said the women died after the crowd rushed forward when free saris were being handed out.
An inquiry has been ordered into the deaths.
