The President of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has been re-elected by an overwhelming majority of the country's voters.
The Algerian Interior Minister said Mr Bouteflika had won more than 83% of the votes cast in yesterday's first round poll, and that no second round would be needed.
However, opposition candidates have accused the authorities of electoral fraud.
The election is seen as vital to the future of democracy in Algeria, which has suffered from a guerrilla war waged by Islamic groups and from military intervention in politics.
