Cyprus leaders united against plan

Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders have urged voters to reject a United Nations' plan for reunifying the island before it joins the EU next month.

Both the Greek Cypriot president, Tassos Papadopoulos, and the Turkish leader, Rauf Denktash, condemned the plan to end a 30-year division of the island.

The plan will be put to twin referendums on 24 April.
