Teachers at Kilkenny City Vocational School have balloted for industrial action over health and safety issues and job security fears.
They voted by 28 to six to serve notice of the action on Co Kilkenny Vocational Educational Committee.
The resolution has to be ratified by the Teachers' Union of Ireland.
