Three British soldiers were injured today when a roadside bomb exploded near the city of Basra in southern Iraq.
The explosion followed clashes involving troops and came a day after another three British soldiers were injured when they were attacked with stones.
Four civilian contractors were earlier killed in an attack on their cars in Falluja. The two cars were set on fire and the burnt bodies of the occupants were dragged out and mutilated by angry crowds.
In a separate incident, five US soldiers were killed when their military vehicle ran over a bomb in Habbaniya, west of Baghdad.
Earlier, up to 12 people were wounded when a car bomb exploded in the town of Baquba, north of Baghdad.
Local police said five of the wounded were bodyguards of the local governor.
The seven others were civilians.
