It has been announced that the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, and the US President, George W Bush, will meet in Washington next month.
The announcement comes as discussions, described as intense, continue over Israel's plan to withdraw from Gaza and parts of the West Bank.
It is thought Mr Bush will also want to report that progress is being made ahead of the US presidential elections in November.
