Bush slammed over handling of terror threat

US President George W Bush has been accused of doing a 'terrible job' in tackling the threat from terrorism.

Richard Clarke, a former White House security expert, said the president had ignored the threat of attacks for months when he first took office.

Mr Clarke said Mr Bush might have been able to do something to stop the 11 September attacks on New York and Washington.

He also said that after the attacks he was asked by the president to find a link with the then Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein. Officials at the White House have denied the allegations.
