A yarn manufacturing company in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, is to close part of its operations and is expected to seek voluntary redundancies among its 250 staff.
Meetings are taking place today and tomorrow between staff and management at the UNIFI plants.
A company statement today gave details of a restructuring plan involving the closure of operations in North Carolina, Manchester and Donegal.
Approximately 400 jobs will be lost in those locations and at the company's headquarters, also in North Carolina.
120 of the current workforce in Letterkenny of 420 are targeted by the new plan. In April 2003, UNIFI announced 250 job losses.
