The Sinn Féin Ard Fheis has passed a motion calling on the Government to allow MPs from Northern Ireland to speak in Dáil debates.
The motion also calls for MEPs from the North to be permitted to speak in the Seanad.
The party also wants to see senators elected to represent Northern Ireland.
Martin McGuinness said that northern MPs had a right to attend debates in Leinster House.
The MP for Mid Ulster added that Sinn Féin was the largest nationalist party in the North and that it should not have to ask the Irish Government twice for its rights.
A motion calling for northern MPs to have a role in the Dáil as a pre-condition of Sinn Féin's participation in Government was deleted.
Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said the motion would tie the party's hands, adding that an Ard Fheis would have the final say on Sinn Féin's participation in any government.
