Indonesia has become the latest Asian country to confirm an outbreak of bird flu among chickens.
However, the authorities say they have found no evidence that the disease has spread to humans.
The country had previously said it was free of the virus and had blamed the deaths of thousands of chickens on another virus, harmless to humans.
Meanwhile, the government of Thailand has ordered troops in to help slaughter millions of chickens in an effort to halt the spread of the flu.
All chickens will be killed in one province north west of the capital, Bangkok.
Two human cases of the disease have been confirmed in Thailand and six people have died of it in Vietnam.
Cases of the flu have also been confirmed in Cambodia, Japan and South Korea.
