Israeli is shot dead in West Bank

An Israeli was shot dead and two others were injured this evening near a Jewish settlement close to the West Bank city of Ramallah.

They were the occupants of a car that came under fire.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for 'the invasion of Palestinian towns, villages and camps, from Rafah to Jenin'.

Earlier, Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian during exchanges of gunfire in the Gaza Strip, near Rafah, when they came under attack from automatic gunfire and a grenade.

A Palestinian security source said that the clash had broken out next to the Jewish settlement of Rafah Yam.
