It has emerged the airline company that owned the plane which plunged into the Red Sea killing all 148 on board was banned from operating in Swiss airspace.

The report into Flash Airlines was carried on Swiss television which referred to serious shortcomings without going into further details.

Rescue workers in Egypt are continuing to collect bodies and debris from the sea after the airline crashed shortly after take-off from Sharm el Sheikh yesterday.

Most of the passengers were French holidaymakers returning from the Sharm-el-Sheikh holiday resort. The Egyptian authorities have ruled out terrorism as the cause of the incident.
