Recovery operation after airplane crash

Efforts are underway to recover the black box flight recorder belonging to the Boeing 737 which crashed over the Red Sea this morning with the loss of all 148 people on board.

The wreckage of the plane is thought to be lying at a depth of 300m on the sea bed.

The plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Shekh.

It was enroute to Cairo and Paris.

The Egyptian and French authorities have ruled out terrorism as the cause of the crash.

Most of the dead are French tourists, many of them children. .

The families of those killed have been receiving counselling in Paris.
