Wreath laid in memory of 1895 tragedy

Members of the Dun Laoghaire lifeboat crew have completed their traditional trip in Dublin Bay to lay a wreath at the site where the entire lifeboat crew was downed on Christmas Eve, 1895, during a rescue attempt.

The ceremony recalls the Christmas Eve tragedy when the lifeboat's entire 15-man crew was lost in a gale while attempting a rescue off a stricket vessel off Blackrock in 1895.
