UN & WHO launch new HIV plan

The United Nations and the World Health Organisation have announced plans to enable three million people with HIV to get access to drug treatment by the end of 2005.

The plans, which are being launched as part of World AIDS Day, will target those in the world's poorest countries.

Roughly 40 million people are thought to be infected with HIV around the world.

It is estimated that 14,000 people become infected with the disease every day.
