Two former Fine Gael ministers have admitted giving wrong information to their party's internal corruption inquiry.
Former Justice Minister Nora Owen told the Planning and Payments Tribunal that she failed to mention a £500 donation from businessman Denis Mahony, who later got land in Portmarnock rezoned.
Ms Owen said when she was questioned by her party in 2000, she did not mention the money because she did not regard him as a developer.
The former North Dublin deputy admitted being lobbied by Mr Mahony in 1993 to get his land rezoned. Ms Owen voted in favour of rezoning, despite over 2,500 local objections and the opposition of official planners at the time.
Meanwhile, former Defence Minister Sean Barrett confirmed receiving a £1,000 political donation from Frank Dunlop in 1992.
Mr Barrett admitted it was wrong to tell the corruption inquiry he had voted against a proposal to rezone lands at Baldoyle racecourse. Today, he admitted he had abstained on a motion concerning the Baldoyle lands.
