Afghanistan releases draft constitution

The government of Afghanistan has released its draft constitution, two years after the fall of the Taliban.

A finalised constitution is expected in December and elections are due in summer next year.

President Hamid Karzai has struggled to maintain unity as warlords control remote parts of the country, and a recent UN report noted 'worrying signs' of weakening support for the government.

A UN Security Council delegation is visiting the country, in a show of support for Mr Karzai's central administration.
