The chairperson of the Commission for Communications Regulation has announced she is to step down early next year.
Etain Doyle has informed the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources that she does not wish to be considered for re-appointment when her current term of office ends on 30 November this year.
Ms Doyle said she enjoyed her time at ComReg and will remain interested in its progress and also in the broader context of Ireland's economic and IT development.
Under her stewardship the new EU telecoms framework was put in place, 3G was launched, and mobile number portability was introduced.
Ms Doyle is to enrol in a film-making course in New York next year.
