Concern is growing in Galway after a large bogslide which appeared to have been halted in recent days has once again begun to move.
Residents in Derrybrien say they fear that it will cause an ‘environmental disaster’, and they have called for a permanent halt to the construction of a wind energy farm on a mountain top site in the area.
At the weekend a 20-foot high dam had been built to halt the mudflow but it has proved totally ineffective.
The company behind the wind energy project, Hibernan Wind Power, says it is preparing to build a large dam to try to stem the bogslide before it blocks the main road leading in and out of the village.
