Lobbyist Frank Dunlop has said he was asked for advice from a friend of the former Bishop Eamon Casey on how to deal with the Annie Murphy scandal.
He told the Mahon Tribunal that the request came from one of the Fianna Fáil councillors who received a bribe for a rezoning in Portmarnock at around the same time.
Frank Dunlop said he met with the then councillor, Sean Gilbride, in April 1993 the day Annie Murphy was due to appear on the Late Late Show. He said Mr Gilbride and a number of other friends of the former Bishop had got audience tickets for the show.
Mr Dunlop said that he met with Mr Gilbride to advise him on what he should say during the discussion on television. Mr Dunlop said he later paid Mr Gilbride £2,000 for his support in getting the Fox/Mahony lands rezoned.
