Israel has said it will press on with the construction of its controversial security barrier through Palestinian territory in the West Bank, despite condemnation by the United Nations General Assembly.
The UN resolution described the project as a violation of international law. It was rejected by only four countries, including the United States and Israel.
Arab states took the dispute to the Assembly after Washington vetoed a similar measure in the Security Council last week.
The vote followed six hours of negotiations between European Union and Arab governments over the text.
In the end, all 15 EU member states agreed to sponsor a compromise, which said the barrier was 'in contradiction to international law', and demanded that Israel 'stop and reverse' its construction.
It comes as Israeli troops killed two Palestinian militants in separate West Bank raids.
An Israeli military spokesman said soldiers shot dead two 'wanted terrorists' overnight after they tried to flee to avoid arrest.
