New airport authority members named

The Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan, has announced the full membership of the board-designate for the new Shannon Airport Authority, which will have 12 members, including four worker directors.

The Minister said he hoped to have the State Airports Bill 2003 enacted by the end of this year.

He said he was confident that the three new Airport Authorities - for Dublin, Cork and Shannon - would be established on a full statutory basis in the first half of 2004.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio, Mr Brennan said the new structure would lead to a new era in Irish aviation which will see the airports competing vigorously for new business.
