Liverpool accident victims named

Merseyside Police have named the four people who died in the collision inLiverpool on Wednesday evening.

The two Irish victims in the crash were Peter King (59) and Dymphna King (57), a husband and wife from Rathfarnham in South Dublin. They were in Liverpool for a family visit.

Marcella Murphy, aged 64, from Ellesmere Port, and her sister, Barbara George, aged 67, from Fazakerley, were also killed in the crash on Great Howard Street.

Mrs Murphy and her husband, Frederick Murphy, aged 71, along with sisterMrs George, had been out for the day with Mr and Mrs King.

Mr and Mrs King are indirectly related to Barbara George, as Mrs George'sson is married to Mr and Mrs King's daughter. They have three other grown sons, who all live in Ireland.

The four died when the Vauxhall Corsa they were travelling in collided with a Ford Fiesta, driven by a 20-year-old man from Crosby.

Mr Murphy, who was driving the Corsa, survived the collision and remains in Fazakerley hospital.

The driver of the second car is still in the Royal Liverpool University Hospital being treated for serious leg injuries.
