The Transport Minister, Séamus Brennan, and the NRA have been urged to fit crash barriers on all motorways by the father of a young man who died after his car went through the central reservation of the M1 and crashed into an oncoming van.
Three young people died in the accident which occurred near Monasterboice in August of last year.
At the inquests into the deaths of Gerard McLoughlin, Celine McArdle and Elaine McGeough, the jury urged that all new motorways should not open until crash barriers are installed.
Joe McLoughlin, father of Gerard, told the inquest that he hoped the Minister would take onboard what the jury had said and avoid other families suffering as they were.
