Labour to table Laffoy motion in Dáil

The Labour Party is to table a Dáil motion condemning the Government over the Laffoy inquiry controversy.

The motion accuses the Government of blocking Ms Justice Laffoy's inquiry into child abuse.

According to Labour, the Government was neither open nor transparent in its dealings with the Commission and the victims of childhood institutional abuse.

The Government has allocated three hours of Dáil time for statements on the Laffoy matter next week, when deputies return after their summer break.
