Families of the victims of the Omagh bombing have been highly critical of the Minister for Justice following their meeting with him in Dublin today.
They said Michael McDowell was dismissive, unhelpful and refused to discuss the Nally report.
The families said they were led to believe that Mr McDowell would discuss the report with them. They said their journey to Dublin had been a complete waste of time.
They have also been highly critical of the personnel involved in the Nally report, because, they say, these people were very close to Government.
The families also criticised the Minister's proposal to jail gardaí who leaked confidential information to journalists, in light of the fact that some of the contents of the Nally report were leaked to the media.
Michael Gallagher asked if the Minister is going to now set up an investigation into the source of this leak of such an important document.
Mr McDowell said his first responsibility was to the Dáil and the people of Ireland and that he would report to the Dáil on the contents of the Nally report.
He said the three people involved in drafting that report were of the highest integrity.
The minister said he understood the families' frustration over not being able to get as much information as they wanted.
He said the Real IRA represented the number one security threat to the state and he was not going to damage the fight against the terrorist organisation by putting intelligence and information into the public domain.
Mr McDowell also said it was neither necessary nor appropriate for the Government to fund the families' civil action in a Belfast High Court where it was the responsibility of the British government to ensure that both sides were adequately resourced.
