The Environment Minister, Martin Cullen, has announced a limited review of the retail planning guidelines, which cap the size of retail developments.

The review will focus on the floor space limit on retail warehouses, which is currently set at 6,000 square metres.

However, the current limit on floor space for food store and grocery developments is not being reviewed.

The Minister says this review will take account of developments in retail formats and the need to ensure effective competition in the sector.
