Final Chinese SARS patients discharged

China's last two SARS patients have been discharged from a Beijing hospital this morning.

However, the World Health Organisation has warned against lowering the guards to the virus.

Officials say China and the rest of the world might have to brace itself for a future outbreak of SARS, or similar rapidly spreading viruses.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome emerged in south China's Guangdong province late last year, and quickly spread world-wide.

It affected more than 8,000 people and left more than 800 dead in 32 countries.

349 of the fatalities and over 5,000 of the infections were recorded in China.
