Negotiations are underway between management and unions at Waterford Crystal.
The negotiations will address company proposals to announce 234 redundancies and a pay freeze at the company's two Irish manufacturing plants in Waterford City and Dungarvan.
Company management also intends to implement a series of measures it says will ensure the competitiveness of its Irish operations into the future.
The company says Waterford needs to be able to compete with outsource suppliers who they claim can produce 50% of the company's product range at up to 30% less than it would cost in their Waterford plants.
ATGWU regional industrial organiser, Sean Kelly, has said there were a lot of unanswered questions about what was a wide-ranging package of redundancies and redeployments.
Mr Kelly said the unions need a lot more information before they can make any sort of recommendation.
The talks are expected to last between two and four weeks.
