Blair denies he misled the Commons

The British Prime Minister has rejected an allegation that he inadvertently misled the House of Commons over Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction.

Giving evidence to a Commons committee, Tony Blair insisted that neither Parliament nor the public was misled.

He said he stood by the case totally, and that evidence of Iraq's programme for producing such weapons would be found.

A separate Commons committee published its report yesterday, saying the jury was still out on whether the government's assessment of the threat from Iraq ahead of the war was accurate.
