Booklets on sex education delayed

The launch of three sex education booklets has been postponed because one of the publications - aimed at boys - did not specify that the age of consent is 17.

The booklets had been due to be published today.

Around 5,000 booklets were printed by the North Eastern Health Board in conjunction with the Irish Family Planning Association.

It is understood the cost of producing the booklets was around €4,000.

A spokesperson for the Health Board said there was no question that the booklets would be scrapped.
